Investors Wanted

Attention investors - Mike Neider has decided to buy the Utah Fun Dome, er, I mean the Salt Lake College, oops, I mean the Salt Lake Pavilion and return it to its original glory. That's right, Mike Neider is planning to return Murray's favorite gang-shootout to the Casey's Dugout, Blackbeard's Cove and Rollertown U.S.A. of yesteryear. That's right, he's going to bring back the 49th Street Galleria.

That's what he told me tonight, anyway, while we were celebrating Ty McHenry's imminent departure to Las Vegas at the run-down bowling alley at the Fun Dome. Mike's got big plans. Unfortunately, as he is waiting for his new career as an insurance salesman to start rollin', he will need some financial backing. So, for all of you nostalgic Murrayites out there, ya'll better back up your pride with some cash so Mike can make his dream come true. Come on, you know you want to.

Spencer makes it sound silly, but take into consideration how I used to work at Rollertown and Blackbeards. I have experience, charm, and a lot of time on my hands. Plus Traci knows the old magician.

Wow, I hate people who double post. This whole Galleria thing is off to a bad start.

Mike, I can't believe that you weren't impressed by the picture of the Galleria token. That's some impressive blogging, don't you think?

I for one loved the 49 street galleria. A one stop for all the kids. We could let them off there with $4.00 and go shopping and out to lunch and know our kids were being well taken care of for hours. Don't forget the time that Matt Dibb and Andrew Hutchison got to spend in the bowling alley's nursery while their mom's bowled and whooped it up. Go for it Mike. As your old man for a loan.

The 49th Street Galleria is full of great memories for me! I particularly liked Blackbeard's, but the whole style of the interior was so cool - and even as a kid I wasn't happy when it changed to Fun Dome and experienced a demographical shift that was less than beneficial...
Thanks for remembering, and for the visuals! Even the token with its logo is a hint to the style, a lot like the idea behind Trolley Square or some of the other places in SLC that are into preserving a heritage.
